Our WorkARC is dedicated to promoting educational excellence and equity for underserved students of diverse backgrounds. Our work focuses in two areas:
The following are our ongoing programs: Project Avanzandohttp://www.arcassociates.org/avanzando/ ARC Connectionshttp://www.arctutoring.org Pacific Islander Kie Association (PIKA)is a grassroots volunteer organization that advocates and promotes the empowerment of Pacific Islander families and youth through community organizing, youth leadership projects and education, and cultural and contemporary arts. PIKA members include Pan-Pacific parents, educators, artists and community organizers. Fine mat in Tongan is kie and in Samoan it is 'ie. The fine mat has extraordinary artistic, cultural, spiritual and monetary significance. PIKA chooses kie as its cultural symbol to represent the importance of weaving our diverse Pacific cultures without losing our identity and to unite Pacific peoples' traditions and values. Like the kie PIKA envisions becoming a strong foundation for Pacific Islander communities, where we can create lasting social change for our communities.
